Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Green Bay Packers
Sunday, January 24, 2020 – 3:05 PM ET at Lambeau Field
This game can’t happen soon enough for football fans as two of the very best ever to toss a pigskin will throw down on Sunday afternoon at the iconic Lambeau Field. There hasn’t been very much line movement on this game as it opened at Packers -3 ½ and the prevailing NFL odds as of this writing are reflecting just that at most of the majors.
Therefore, since there is no weak line out there to exploit then we have to evaluate the matchup based on what we have. And what we have are two evenly matched teams with one getting the home-field advantage, while the other is getting north of a field goal head start.
Home field advantage is theoretically good for three points, which means if these teams played at a neutral site, this would be pretty much a coin flip as there are no ties in the postseason. But how much of an advantage will Green Bay be getting by playing on the not so frozen tundra of Lambeau Field?
Well, the weather will be relatively mild for this time of the year, projected to be in the 30’s with a light breeze, which means the cold weather Packers won’t have much of an advantage, if any, over the warm weather Buccaneers.
And then we have the quarterbacks. No one did it better than Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers this season, but nobody has ever done it better in the postseason than Tom Brady. I would say we have a sublime wash at the most important position.
The Packers have the best receiver on the field in Davante Adams, but the Bucs have far more depth at the skills positions with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, and even the upstart Cameron Brate at tight end.
Vita Vea will be welcomed back into the Bucs’ defense and he will make that stellar run-stop unit even better. The Packers will have a tough time running the ball, which means their offense will be heavy on the pass. However, the way Tampa’s pass defense shut down Drew Brees last week makes this another check in the Bucs’ column.
Lastly, we look at the line, and we see that the oddsmakers are giving us that magical hook on the most important number in football – three! And while there are Packers -3 (-125) to be had at some of the major betting sites, the value lies with Tampa +3 ½ in this matchup. Let’s go get it and keep crushing the books!

Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Last Chance Value Picks has had a winning season primarily due to the large slate of NFL games every Sunday, which allows us to exploit the weak numbers that some of the best online sportsbooks are offering. However, as the field narrows, there is less opportunity to find those weak numbers, which is why we have another game where the needle has barely moved.
If we peruse the lines as of this writing, we see that the Chiefs are favored by a solid three across the board. The only difference is how much vig you will pay for the privilege of betting either team. Therefore, our job is to analyze this matchup and see which team is giving us the most value.

It appears as though Patrick Mahomes is a virtual lock to start for Kansas City, whizzing through the fastest concussion protocol in NFL history. Funny how that works, eh? However, my thoughts about his well-being and ability to slice and dice a solid, albeit unspectacular, Bills’ pass defense centers around the toe injury he sustained in the first half of last week’s game, and not whether he will be seeing double on Sunday. Mobility is one of Mahomes’ strengths, and if that is diminished it bodes well for the Bills.

It’s tough to bet against Josh Allen and the high-flying Bills, particularly when we consider that the oddsmakers are giving them a field goal head start. Let’s also consider that if Mahomes does take a good licking at some point in the game, it will be a bad look to trot him back on the field when the league espouses the safety and welfare of its players above all else. Grab the points and bet the Bills.
